Eating Eggs and Cholesterol Lowering Myth!

Eating eggs and cholesterol lowering - Could it be possible?

Many people with high cholesterol problems, would have heard that they should not eat eggs.

Actually, this is not absolutely true. There are many things, which influence the levels of cholesterol and increased intake of cholesterol is one of the last things in the list.

The very first thing, which really matters, is the intake of saturated fats. The more saturated fats you eat the higher cholesterol numbers you will have. Foods rich on saturated fats are red meal, ice cream, etc. Withe regards to eggs, they are not in this list of foods rich in saturated fats.

It is estimated that an egg has about 210 mg of cholesterol. For a normal person with normal levels of cholesterol, it is okay to eat one egg every day. The reason for this is simple - the minimal intake of cholesterol per day is 300mg/day.

You love eggs and cholesterol of yours is high - What can you do?

If you are "addicted" to eggs, it is very important to reduce your cholesterol at first. For people who have high levels of cholesterol it is not recommended to take more than one to two eggs per week.

For people with cholesterol higher than 200mg/dL (which is a very serious number) it is not recommended to eat any eggs at all.

However, after some time, your diet will pay off and your cholesterol numbers will be reduced and you can start eating eggs again.

You do not need to put eggs in every meal of yours. Moderation is the answer. You may eat between 2-3 eggs per week. That’s how you will keep your cholesterol levels optimal and at the same time you will be able to enjoy your favorite meals.

Eggs are a good source of proteins and other useful substance, which can help you reduce your cholesterol levels. You can eat only the white of eggs, which is a protein concentrate. This will boost your lipid profile and will help you reduce your cholesterol.

Normal eggs and cholesterol reducing eggs

Normal eggs consist of cholesterol and proteins. However, scientists have invented new types of eggs, which instead of cholesterol have polyunsaturated fats.

These eggs actually improve the lipid profile and reduce the risk for cardiac complications. This new type of eggs could replace the old ones.
