The risk factors which contribute to cholesterol hdl ldl ratio
First of all, you must understand that there are three groups of cholesterol hdl ldl ratio. 1. The total cholesterol to HDL ratio is measured by dividing the hdl to the total cholesterol value. The optimal ratio is less than 4. Your ideal goal is to keep it as low as 2 as possible. If your total cholesterol is high and your hdl cholesterol is low, chances are you will have an increased ratio. Meanwhile, if you your hdl levels are high and your total cholesterol is low, you will get low ratio. And you have achieved your target. 2. You can look for LDL/HDL ratio. This is considered as pure ratio. The normal figures you should look for are less than 2.5. Higher figures (higher than 2.6) determine your high risk for heart disease. If your LDL levels are high and HDL are low, the ratio obtained is very high. Meanwhile, if you have low ldl cholesterol level and high hdl level, you may consider yourself safe from heart diasese. 3. The third cholesterol ratio is called HDL/LDL ratio. You may easily obtain it by dividing LDL cholesterol into your HDL cholesterol. Your target is to keep this ratio higher than 0.3 (ideally higher than 0.4). Even in this case, high hdl cholesterol and low ldl level can keep you safe from any heart disease or other problems due to high cholesterol. However, low hdl levels and high ldl cholesterol level are a potential risk for heart diasese. If you start any type of cholesterol treatment, your physician will see your total cholesterol, HDL levels and LDL levels to evaluate the treatment progress. Here the cholesterol hdl ldl ratio is not used. At least, I want you to keep in mind that high ldl and low hdl are both considered as independent risk factors for heart disease. The cholesterol hdl ldl ratio as shown in the above paragraphs, may help to evaluate the potential heart disease risk. As you may see, your target is to keep your total cholesterol and ldl level as lower as possible; and hdl cholesterol as high as possible. There are many ways to achieve your goal. I prefer the natural one. If you want to start your battle against high cholesterol by choosing the natural way,
