anymore. According to some recent studies, it has been revealed an intimate relationship between the diet for atherosclerosis and cholesterol level in your blood. Furthermore, some scientists believe that a significant decrease in plasma cholesterol and LDL levels will reduce the atherosclerosis symptoms or even prevent them. When you decide to strictly follow a proper atherosclerosis diet, a major boost will be noticed in the results of your blood lipid test after 3-6 weeks. It is very important that you completely change your lifestyle as well as your dietary habits. You must be able to know what to eat, what to avoid and what to compromise. The following types of food are so harmful to you, and despite they have no nutritional value at all, they add toxins to your body. Atherosclerosis diet – foods to avoid completely 1- All types of sugars, like concentrated sweets (table sugar, brown sugar, honey, jams, canned juices, and colas), as well as baked desserts (cakes, muffins, and cookies). 2- Alcohol consumption, like beer, wine, hard liquors. 3- Snacks like sweetened cereal, yogurt with added flavors, energy bars and chocolates. 4- You should avoid eating doughnuts; they are rich in trans-fats (35-40%) as they are deeply fried in vegetable oils, and rich in sugars (one doughnut contains 200-300 calories). From a nutritional point of view, having a doughnut for breakfast is the worst start to your day. Better change to a healthier choice. 5- You should stop drinking all types of Soda whether regular or diet. One can of Soda is rich in sugar (150 calories), rich in caffeine (30-55 mg), and full of artificial colors and sweeteners. In conclusion, soda consumption will lead to nutritional deficiencies, overweight, osteoporosis, tooth caries and coronary heart diseases. 6- You should completely avoid French fries as well as all fried non fish seafood, because these are rich in trans-fats, free radicals, and contain high amounts of mercury and acrylamide (82 mg/serving). Acrylamide is a potent carcinogenic substance. Eventually, eating these foods will cause aging, cancer and obesity. Diet for atherosclerosis – foods you should limit You should limit your consumption of red meat, especially when fried. Instead you can eat boiled or roasted chicken or turkey.Atherosclerosis diet – the foods of choice They are also called healthy favorable foods due to their good impact into your overall well-being and not only to atherosclerosis. When talking about beverages, pure water is your drink of choice with and between meals. Keep in mind to always take fish as your source of choice for protein. Increase the intake amount of dark green vegetables either cooked or raw in your diet, such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale……..etc. Nutritionally speaking, raw vegetables contain more vitamins than cooked ones. That is why you should not overcook your vegetables. I want you to realize that the atherosclerosis diet cannot work alone. If you add more exercise, give up your “bad” habits and other changes to your daily lifestyle habits, for sure you will have more results.
