are zocor and profibe compatible?
QUESTION: I am taking zocor, but, my friend told me about profibe. Are these two, zocor and profibe compatible or cannot use them both?
ANSWER: Hi,
For your information, Profibe is a supplement containing fiber. It is postulated that can help reduce cholesterol, especially LDL level.
As its main components are high in fiber and proteins, they can indirectly reduce cholesterol through lowering the absorption of high fatty foods or by breaking them down into small chains fatty acids.
With regards to Zocor (or Simvastatin), it is within the statins group, which inhibit HMG CoA reductase. Therefore, it has different way of action towards lowering cholesterol.
According to the company providing Profibe, they encourage not to stop using other cholesterol lowering drugs (such as Zocor) while taking Profibe.
However, in either cases, the advice of the doctor are encouraged to listen if you want to start this supplement.
At the end, my opinion is always for natural solutions. And, the most natural one is
INSIDE YOU.
You are the only one who can resolve your cholesterol or other health problems. Be smart!
